As a Front End Developer on our team, you’ll be responsible for the following:
Contributing to Rosie’s web applications, currently built on Backbone + Marionette, CoffeeScript, underscore.js, jQuery, and SASS, and leveraging CSS3 and HTML5.
Helping to guide and build the next generation of software as we grow!
Working closely with Rosie’s Development, QA, and Product teams to design, implement, test, and document both retailer and consumer facing web applications.
Developing unit, functional, and acceptance tests using Mocha/Chai/Sinon and other tools to ensure that software systems work as designed.
Participating in the agile Kanban development process.
A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Web Development, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or similar.
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral. You can effectively communicate and interpret information in writing and through diagrams.
Solid understanding of the unique challenges and best practices for SPA development, including efficient use of resources, state tracking, DOM manipulation, and routing.
Comprehensive understanding of HTML semantics and API, including HTML5 UI elements and their features.
2+ years of implementing responsive designs using modern CSS3 features (flex, media queries, mobile-friendly meta tags).
Complete comfort using a distributed revision control system, preferably GIT.
2+ years of experience working on a team to develop software, following a defined methodology such as agile Scrum, Kanban, eXtreme Programming (XP), or waterfall.
Demonstrable experience with application frameworks like Angular, React, Backbone/Marionette, or similar.
Demonstrable experience with CSS and UI libraries like Bootstrap, Semantic UI, or similar.
A critical eye for UI and UX design. Even better - a creative talent for design and ability to share access to your past portfolio is a plus.
An exceptional understanding of web standards and accessibility, and the ability to cleanly incorporate them within a SPA.
Familiarity with CSS methodologies such as BEM.
Experience using and developing for a screen reader such as NVDA.
